Wht are some people so narrow minded?

I'm not saying that people need to be indecisive. But some people are just too stubborn to think about other possibilities. It's good that people have their own beliefs, I don't have a problem with that, but theres some people that you can't even have a civilized conversation with because they won't hear your view on a topic. Why are these people like that?
