Ok I really need help with balancing the instrumentation (small jazz ensemble)?

I'd like to know what you ended up naming your band but with balancing it There is kind of a pyramid I guess that is used by band instructors and conductors but also applies to jazz combos. Trombone is near the bottom which means that you don't need as many of them, then there are trumpets and the tenor and alto sax. I didn't explain this very well but I would use probably one of each. You might not even need a trombone. If your going to have the sax player playing the melody rather than then a vocalist then use alto but if you have a vocalist then use tenor. trumpets can be used either way. I'm not sure about any of this but I hope it helps.
